New apartments near campus available to students
Students moving off-campus in the fall will have the option of several newly built and remodeled apartment complexes near campus. Entrada Real, Riata Court and Riata Plaza are three of these options. Entrada Real Apartments, owned by Royal Properties Company in Champaign, Ill., is now leasing two apartment complexes that cater to University of Arizona students. Entrada Real is $440 a month each person for a four-bedroom apartment, and $460 for a three-bedroom. Entrada Real does individual leases. Entrada Real Oeste - which will have 69 apartments - is being built at West University Boulevard and North Stone Avenue. The 30 apartments at Entrada Real Norte will be located at North Park Avenue and East Lester Street. "We have had such a positive student reaction that all the apartments at Park and Lester have been filled," said manager Jane Garber. Each of the individual apartments will be fully furnished and all major appliances - including washer/dryer and microwave - will be included. Rent includes electricity, water, sewer, trash, pest control, cable and monitored alarm system. "We will pay for $120 of the electricity bill, but the students will be responsible for their own phone and Internet services," Garber said. Entrada Real Apartments offer three- and four-bedroom apartments, each with private bathrooms. Construction for these complexes began in January and are expected to be complete by the end of July. "It's a nice location because it's fairly close to campus, and I am sure it will be a great community with all my friends living there," said Shannon Breuner, a pre-education sophomore who will be living at Entrada Real Norte in August. Riata Court, located at East Sixth Street and North Stewart Avenue, is a offering two- and four-bedroom apartments, with private bathrooms. All appliances, including microwave, ice maker and washer/dryer are provided. The newly remodeled Riata Plaza - at North Cherry Avenue and East 10th Street - has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and a few studios available. Each apartment will have new appliances and ceramic floors. Riata Plaza is about $1,000 rent a month for a three-bedroom apartment, and one-bedroom is between $475 and $500, depending on the size. Dick Getman, manager of Riata Court, said Riata Plaza is replacing the 30-year-old Cherry Star Apartments. "There will be a new exterior and courtyard landscaping, and will include a pool and laundry facility," said Alfred Ward, Riata Plaza manager. Both Riata Court and Riata Plaza have a secured entry with intercom systems. "Many students have come to sign leases for the apartments because they heard about them by word of mouth," Getman said.
