Sophomore Brianna Glenn had a very successful two weeks for the Arizona women's track and field team.

On Mar. 11, Glenn finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Her performance garnered Glenn the first All-American award of her career.

Glenn didn't end there, as she also picked up her second All-American honor in the long jump, finishing 10th with a jump of 20 feet.

"I was just excited to be there. I wanted to compete my best," said Glenn. "My biggest goal was to become an All-American."

That same day, Glenn was awarded another accolade when she was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Female Athlete of the Year for her performance in Reno, Nev. on February 25-26. During that meet, Glenn won the 55-meter race, finished second in the 200 and third in both the long jump and triple jump.

The women's team finished tied for 22nd at the Indoor Championships, as UCLA came away with the team title.

Senior Tara Chaplin placed fifth in the 5,000 with a career-best time of 16:03.21.

"I was very pleased with the efforts we had at the NCAA Indoor Championships," head coach Dave Murray said. "I thought for the number of people we had at the competition, everyone performed at the high level."

On the men's side, senior Jeff Dutiot scored the lone point for the men by finishing eighth in the pole vault. Dutiot's vault of 18 feet was a season-best and earned him the third All-America honors of his career.

Glenn's outstanding performance continued last weekend, as both teams hosted the Willie Williams Classic at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Glenn's winning triple jump mark of 40 feet, two inches was a Pacific 10 Conference qualifying mark. She also set a UA record in the 100 with a time of 11.49. Her time, which was the ninth best in Pac-10 history, was good enough for another first place finish, and it was also a NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Other members on the women's side also shattered school records, as junior Andrea Neary's pole vault of 12-7 set a new UA mark. Neary finished second in the event.

With the vault, Neary has now set a school record in four of her last six meets.

"I feel good about this one, and it's a good way to start the outdoor season, but I feel there's a lot more I'm capable of doing," said Neary.

The women's 4x100 relay team of Glenn, senior Rori Kelly, senior Nicole Thomas and senior Carolyn Jackson finished second with a time of 45.21.

Other athletes who performed well included junior Keith Varga in the 400 intermediate hurdles. This was the first time Varga ran in the event, and he posted the 10th fastest time in Arizona history with a time of 51.74.

Also performing well were graduate student Christopher Schaefer and junior Tom Prindiville in the 1500. Schaefer won the event with a 3:48.42 and Priniville came in second in a time of 3:49.14.

Next up for the track teams is next weekend's Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
