TPD says man was a transient and probably died of natural causes

The dead body of an unidentified man was found Sunday evening in an arroyo near the University of Arizona campus, police said.

The body was found by a Tucson Police Department officer at about 9 p.m. in a wash at North Campbell Avenue and East Seventh Street.

Sgt. Marco Borboa, TPD spokesman, said the man was most likely a transient and probably died of natural causes.

"We will conduct an autopsy, naturally. And there will be an investigation if anything strange is found," Borboa said. "But right now we don't think anything funny happened here."

Borboa also said most cases with unidentified homeless people such as this are not investigated unless an autopsy reveals extenuating circumstances.
