Coach expects easy win against ASU
During the last 22 years, the Arizona Laxcats record against in-state rival Arizona State University is an astonishing 82-6. "I am expecting to run over ASU," head coach Mickey-Miles Felton said. "Anything less than that will be unacceptable." Arizona, 9-5 overall and 5-0 in the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League, will take on ASU Saturday in the first ever Arizona Youth Lacrosse Day in Tempe. High school games will be played prior to the game, and the high school players will be in attendance for the game. Last weekend, Arizona won its first WCLL title with a win against Loyola-Maramount University and clinched the top seed in the playoffs. Arizona played ASU in a pre-season scrimmage earlier this season in Tucson, where the Laxcats easily handled the Sun Devils. Felton, though, cautioned against looking ahead to the playoffs the following week. "What I am going to do is keep reminding them it is ASU," Felton said. "There is no 'we will get them next time' attitude. I also am going to go over the fact that this is ASU's last game, and they want to go out winners." Good news for the Laxcats is that senior defenseman Jeff Cady will play this weekend after leaving last weekend's game early with injuries. Freshman defenseman Brenden Wilde, though, might miss the game with the flu. His status for the game is still unclear. "I still have a fever," Wilde said. "I sure hope I am able to play on Saturday." According to Felton, the Laxcats will be fine as long as they stick to the basics. "We need to come out focused, we've got to be focused. We got to keep what is going to happen after the game out of our minds," he said. Wilde agreed. "It will just be a matter of being disciplined and taking it one step at a time," Wilde said.
