The Pima County Sheriff's Department is hosting a seminar tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the dangers of workplace violence. Sheriff's officers will cover how to make your workplace safe and why businesses should be interested in the safety of their work environment. Also on the agenda is discussing case studies and safety tips to make your workplace an ideal safety haven. The seminar kicks off in the University Medical Center's DuVal Auditorium, so call 741-4615 if you have any questions. All attendees will receive a certificate in the sheriff's training program.

Your financial aid is coming perilously close to being cut. With a vote on chopping a good portion out of federal financial aid coming up in Congress sometime next month, ASUA is holding a call-in seminar today on the UA Mall. Representatives from ASUA will be present, with a full listing of congressman so you can call and voice your opinion about cutting financial aid. Anyone using a mobile phone will receive free Eegees. Can't catch them today? Swing by tomorrow, Wednesday or Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Call the Associated Students at 621-2782 for more information.

If you're an avid racquetball fan and player, or just like to pick up a racquet and throw on some goggles once in a while, than intramural sports has something for you. The Racquetball Singles Tournament entries open up today and stay open until Oct. 7. You can go sign up at the Intramural Sports office located in the Recreation Center from noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Or, you can call Brian Jacoby at 621-8723. The cost is a measly $7 to come out and knock the ball around.

It seems like it was just yesterday, but that time of year has come around again. That's right, it's Mishiyyat! While those of the Baha'i faith will be celebrating the holiday, the rest of us can find out what it's all about by calling up Allen Breckenridge at 623-7576.

So what if your date never believes that you want to go into the middle of a dark field just so you can watch the stars? Now, that wily partner will be forced to believe you, as tonight is the night for "Making Science Fun in the Science Center," going on tonight, in, of all places, the Steward Observatory, room N210 from 7:30 to 8:30. After a riveting lecture, the university will open up the 21-inch telescope to the public. Need more info? Talk to Thomas A. Fleming at 621-5049.

The neat part about astrophysics is that the longer the words get, the neater the topics are. Thrill to the Theoretical Astrophysics Lunch Seminar at noon, where Charles Gammie from the Harvard Center for Astrophysics will be talking about the "Stability of Warps in Accretion Disks," in N305 of the Steward Observatory. If that doesn't fill your Gammie need, he'll be speaking again at four, this time on "Magnetic Accretion onto Black Holes." The late show will be N210, also of the Steward Observatory. If you need any more information on either, talk to Barbara Kausen at 621-7690.
