UA students react to Thursday's comments by Rep. Jean McGrath, R-Glendale. McGrath spoke to the Arizona Board of Regents during its meeting in Tempe.
"I cannot understand why a public university would want to have a co-ed dormitory - it's just beyond me," she said. "It's not conducive to anything. I find no justification for the state to be supporting immorality. We spend a great deal of time fighting teenage pregnancies. We're working very hard to get people off welfare. I think the universities are contributing to these problems with their co-ed dormitories."

"It just depends on your morals. If youâre the type to hook up, then youâre going to hook up no matter where youâre living."
÷ Laura Pollack
undeclared freshman, Coronado (co-ed dormitory) Hall

"In everyday life, youâre going to come across
co-ed situations. If you live in an apartment complex, itâs not like they have all male apartment complexes or all females apartment complexes."
÷ Cameron Rayfield
anthropology freshman, Cochise Hall (all-male dormitory) resident

"Co-ed dorms are the same as apartment complexes, so whatâs the difference. Itâs just people having a good time ÷ promoting the college style of life."
÷ Phillip Frankel
business management freshman, Coronado (co-ed dormitory) Hall

"In all-guysâ dorms, you can bring girls back to your dorm, so itâs the same thing."
÷ Ryan Nixon
business economic freshman, Coronado (co-ed dormitory) Hall
