Give blood until it hurts. The Red Cross is here again to get you to volunteer some of your most precious commodity, blood. Their Blood Mobile, which is sponsored by Student Health, will be stationed on the UA mall, just to the west of the Cactus Garden. Everyone is welcome to swing by and give blood. It is safe, quick, and it is a great help to local blood banks. The mobile will be open at 9:30 a.m. and will be out all day. Give Joyce Meder a call at 621-7428 if you have any blood donor questions.
As October begins, this marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness month. Keep your eyes open as events are being planned all month around the UA to raise awareness about this community issue. Tonight there are two main events covering this topic. The first is this afternoon's "The Clothesline Project" which has students painting T-shirts honoring victims of domestic violence and hanging them on public display around the UA mall. Taking place from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., there will be survivors present to speak about what happened to them and how they escaped. The evening event is a panel of government officials who will host a question and answer session in which students can discuss what types of legislation and policies are being enacted today. The panel takes place at 6 p.m. and should last until 8 p.m. in the Rogers College of Law building, which is directly west of AME on Mountain Avenue. Give Katie Rosenberg a call at 320-7556 if you need any additional information.
