For 11 years, students have traveled through Europe with architecture professor Charles Albanese and his wife Claire on the six-week summer program in Greece and Italy. The program is a travel experience intended to expose students of all ages and majors to new cultures, people, places and ways of life.

This opportunity is offered through the University of Arizona's College of Architecture and focuses primarily on the Mediterranean cultures of Italy and Greece.

This past summer, I was a member on the trip. The group consisted of 20 students, the professor and his wife. It was an amazing opportunity which exposed me to new cultures and allowed me to develop my own way to communicate what I was experiencing through different mediums.

A subtle objective of the program is the realization that life itself is an adventure and travel is a metaphor of learning about oneself through others.

The Summer 2000 program begins May 27 and continues to June 30. For more information, e-mail albanese@u.arizona.edu. Student work from the past summer program will be on exhibit in the Sundt Gallery in the College of Architecture from Oct. 21 to Nov. 8.
