Are you afraid of the dark?
If you have a pacemaker, heart condition, are pregnant, or plan on getting pregnant soon, do not read this. OK, you can read this, but just make sure not to go surfing on the Web site that this story is about. Halloween is just a few days away, so what you need is a bunch of candy and a Web site full of creepy, scary ghost stories. The candy and the decorations are probably taken care of, but the Internet can help with the ghost story part of the equation. And some of the best can be found at - where else - www.ghostories.com/ (note the integration of the words "ghost" and "stories," along with the requisite ending backslash). That's where the Web site titled "O'Neill's Ghost Stories" can be found. And boy, is it a scary one. Log on to the site, nicknamed "OGS," and a spooky black screen appears, reading, "Please wait while ghosts invade your computer." Dare to go on from there, and a variety of ghost stories, filed by writers around the world who claim that they are factual, will emerge. At least eight new stories are posted to the Web site each week. Among this week's submissions is a story titled "The Paralyzer," a tale about an invisible ghost that runs into a guy's room at night, pins him to his bed, and doesn't allow him to breathe. The ghost does this on a regular basis. Scary stuff. And O'Neill, the Web site's editor, affixes a reply at the end of the story that says the Paralyzer is a "disturbed and perverse spirit." Takes one to know one, O'Neill.
