Your Tuesday evening running a little slow? Take advantage of tonight's quiet evening to see some movies you may have missed over the weekend. This weekend's blockbuster openers, "The Insider," "Being John Malkovich" and "The Bone Collector," opened to rave reviews. "The Insider" is a semi-true story of the behind-the-scenes occurrences about a whistleblower at a cigarette company. "Being John Malkovich," showcases Malkovich as himself when individuals find a portal into his consciousness. All three movies are showing at Tucson theaters.

One of the UA's own has earned distinction as best in the state. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has decided to place the honor of 1999 Arizona Professor of the Year on Harold P. Larson, of the Planetary Sciences department. Larson, who is also a part of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, was the winner among eight finalists. Why should this matter to you? A reception is being held in his honor today at 4:30 p.m. in the Flandrau Science Center, and everyone is invited. Hal Larson at 621-6943 can help you find out more about Larson's honors.

Music of all kinds makes it way through the UA. And some of the classical type appears at the Scottish Rite Cathedral tonight at 7:30. One of the finest classical guitarists in the world, Eliot Fisk, appears with Turkish singer Burhan Ocal, and the two-some expect to put out all sounds ranging from folk tunes to jazz and funk. Tickets for general admission are $20, and are still available. They can be bought at the Centennial Hall box office or over the phone at 621-3341.
