Oregon State clinched its first winning season since 1970 and made itself eligible for a bowl game with a 17-7 win over the California Golden Bears on Saturday. The last time OSU went to a bowl game was the 1965 Rose Bowl.

The loss dropped Cal to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the Pacific 10 Conference.

Oregon State had two of the three Pac-10 players of the week. Outside linebacker James Allen got the nod for the Pac-10 defensive player of the week and punter Mike Fessler won the award for the special teams player of the week.

Despite the loss, the Cal defense remains ranked first in the Pac-10 in rushing defense and has posted 12 sacks in the past two outings.

Cal cornerback Deltha O'Neal picked off his Pac-10-leading seventh pass against OSU and is second in the nation in interceptions.

ESPN's Mel Kiper released his list of the top 50 college prospects going into the NFL Draft. Among the 50 are six players from the Pac-10:

16. Marvel Smith, OT, ASU, 35. Marcus Bell, LB, AZ, 38. Dennis Northcutt, WR, AZ, 40. J.R. Redmond, RB, ASU, 43. R. Jay Soward, WR, USC, 50. Travis Claridge, OL, USC.

Two Penn State players, LB LaVar Arrington and DE Courtney Brown topped Kiper's list.

Oregon demolished Washington State 52-10 with a three-touchdown performance by new starting quarterback Joey Harrington.

In the past two games, Harrington has asserted himself as a better passer than season-opening starter A.J. Feeley and has earned the starting spot in the Ducks offense. Harrington finished the game with 239 yards on 15 of 24 passing.

The win assures the Ducks of a winning season and makes them eligible for a bowl game.

WSU is currently last in the Pac-10 with a 1-5 record in the Pac-10 and an overall record of 2-7.

Ducks running back Reuben Droughns ran for 123 yards on 23 carries while WSU running back Deon Burnett had only 25 yards on 13 carries.

J.R. Redmond returned from a one-game suspension to play at both tailback and free safety as ASU handed the USC Trojans their sixth straight loss 26-16.

Redmond sat out last week's game against Oregon for an incident in August that involved accepting illegal benefits which were reported to be cell phone calls from an ASU employee.

Redmond rushed for three touchdowns in the win.

The Trojans' loss marks their worst losing streak since 1991 and brings their record to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the Pac-10.

USC starting quarterback Mike Van Raaphorst was benched in favor of senior John Fox, who threw for 124 yards on 15 of 24 passing. Trojan strong safety David Gibson had 14 solo tackles and forced a fumble in the loss.
