The chief justice for the High Criminal Court of Egypt is in town today and here to speak to you about "Islam and Democracy." The Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the James E. Rogers College of Law is bringing to you Mohammed Said Al-Ashmawy, who is also the chief justice for the High Court for Security of State of Egypt. Taking place at the James E. Rogers Law Center in the Ares Auditorium, the lecture starts at 4 p.m. Everyone with opinions on the topic or any interest in it can attend and find out what he has to say. Anne Bennett at 621-8079 will answer any of your questions regarding this speech.

Imagine all the fun you can have when you are surrounded by physics professionals. Well, this dream can be a reality as the UA Department of Physics is holding its annual Physics Phun Nite. On hand will be most of the UA Physics department showcasing the most interesting and fascinating areas of the principles of physics. Taking place in the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences building, located at 1118 E. Fourth Street, in room 201. The phun and games all start at 7 p.m., and everyone is welcome to stop by and see exactly how much excitement it can be. Call Alaina Levine with the Physics department at 621-4969 if you want any more data on the Physics Phun Nite.

UA is ready to take part in the Preseason NIT. This talented young Wildcat squad is expected to crash the party. First round games are Hofstra versus New Mexico State, and Kansas State taking on UA. Later in the evening Notre Dame takes on the No. 4 ranked Ohio State, and Davidson plays Sienna. Tomorrow's action will be Arkansas State playing Utah, Pennsylvania taking on Kentucky, San Francisco playing Maryland and Fordham battling Tulane. If UA wins they will take on the Hofstra-New Mexico State winner here at the McKale Center. All games will be televised on ESPN2 if you are not among the lucky ones with tickets. Some tickets are still available if you stop by the McKale Ticket Office or call 621-2287.

Feel the need to get some fresh air and a little exercise in your daily regiment? The Southern Arizona Hiking Club is having their monthly meeting tonight at 7. Today's agenda has Manek Bhappu speaking about "The Maze" in Utah's Canyonlands National Park. The meeting will also feature an open forum for prospective members to ask questions about the Hiking Club. The hikers are meeting in the Biological Sciences West building room 301.
