Poet David McElroy brought his award-winning works to the International Arts Center last night with a reading and discussion hosted by the Arizona International College. McElroy, who currently lives and works as a pilot in Alaska, has won grants and awards from the Alaska State Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. In the past, McElroy has traveled throughout Central America and has taught English in Guatemala and Seattle. The poems in his latest work, "Making It Simple," have been called, "prehistoric, strange creatures that survive despite evolution, like iguanas only with high metabolisms," by critic Richard Hugo. McElroy's work is published by Ecco Press.
