Club vibes

With this photo essay I set out to show all the excitement and energy that clubs and raves are all about. These photographs are of two crazy nights at the downtown Phoenix club Pompeii. Tuesday, Oct. 26, was the MOONSHINE OVERAMERICA 1999 Tour, and the second night, Saturday, Oct. 30, was a hallowed masquerade called BIRTH, part of the nt30 Dance Music Innovators Series. What I was trying to do with these photographs was to capture the good vibes and the passion of the two evenings. I wanted to express the passion of the DJs, the excitement of the crowd and the amazing barrage of lights. I photographed nonstop both nights until they shut off the lights. The lineup for Tuesday night was Carl Cox, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, AK1200, and Cirrus. BIRTH headlining talent included Scott Henry, DJ Craze and Infamous.
