Letter insulting to everyone
To the editor, Rachael Ludwick wrote a letter on Nov. 17 regarding her reasons for abandoning organized religion. In it, she makes several claims that are fairly insulting to anyone of any faith. She asserts that religious people "discount their brains as useless organs." I don't know of anyone, non-religious people included, who does this, but I do know that one of the reasons that religion is such an important part of people's lives is because they seek to understand where they came from and what their purpose here is. That takes a brain. On another note, she says that sex between caring people is "good - it is a pleasurable ... and productive thing." I wonder what those people care about. Is it each other, or is it the sex itself? And what is the product of sex? Children. As we all learned in junior high, the only sure way of not creating a child is to not have sex. So, I'd just like to caution people to examine why they believe what they do, and to remember that everyone uses their brain.
