FSU is the best team in the nation, hands down ÷ not against the wall ÷ Warrick. Will Florida lose twice in ćThe Swamp?ä Yes, because Warrick and Weinke are good at playing catch. Nokia will be a very happy company on Jan. 4. Florida State 34, Florida 28 Okay, it happens every week in the Pac-10 ÷ the front-runner for the Rose Bowl will lose to a mediocre team. Calās defense handles Troy Walters and Stanfordās explosive offense, making them play like they did against San Jose State. Thank goodness for Pac-10 hoops. Cal 24, Stanford 17 The Civil War is one of the best nicknames for any rivalry game in the nation. OSU is coming off a great win and they head to Eugene to secure their bowl berth. Give Dennis Erickson some credit, for he has done a lot in the coaches graveyard called Corvallis. Oregon State 31, Oregon 27 This is the best bet of the week. Take Penn State and the points. No way they lose three in a row, they are just too good. Joe Pa brings them back to life this week as he outcoaches an overmatched Nick Saban. Penn State 27, Michigan St. 17 Tee Martin, Jamal Lewis and the Vols showed they arenāt as good as everyone thought by losing to Arkansas last week. This week, though, they play Hal Mummeās Wildcats. Easy win in Blue Grass country because, like Penn State, the Vols donāt go on losing streaks. Tennessee 35, Kentucky 14

The Game of the Century, for the umpteenth time. The last time Florida State won in Gainesville, they won the 1993 National Championship. Coincidence? Not so fast, my friend! The Gators take out the Seminoles and crash the party in Nāawlins. Florida 42, Florida State 38 Not since 1982 has this game had implications, other than pride. A Stanford win and hell freezes over ÷ a Pac-10 team clinches a Rose Bowl bid this season. A Cal win and Hell freezes over ÷ a Pac-10 team still spends New Yearās 2000 in Pasadena. Stanford 23, California 17 Itās Rivalry Week, and this game is included? Mind you, itās a good rivalry, and a good game this year, but Iād rather talk about how Michigan is going to crush Ohio State and secure a BCS bid. But no, we have to pick between Ducks and Beavers.... Oregon 31, Oregon State 28 Personally, I think Michigan-Ohio State is a better game, but what happened to the Spartans? Did Mateen Cleaves take Plaxico Burress shopping for 40s? Did Bill Burke construct a bomb outside a MSU dorm? So many questions, so few answers. Penn State 32, Michigan St. 21 How does Tennessee lose to Arkansas and still get to be No. 7? How does Kentucky survive without Tim Couch? And how is this game chosen over Michigan-Ohio State? See a pattern? Go Blue ÷ Kentucky blue. Kentucky 28, Tennessee 23

Tough game for the Seminoles in ćThe Swamp.ä The āNoles were only tested once this year by Georgia Tech and luckily came out on top. Iām still picking them, though, due to Peter Warrickās game breaking ability. Pack your bags for ćThe Big Easy,ä Florida State. Florida State 28, Florida 24 Californiaās defense vs. Stanfordās offense. No contest. Stanford crushed ASU last week and Troy Walters is virtually unstoppable. Sanyika and the Bears will try to keep it close, but Stanford will open it up in the second half and start smelling the roses. Stanford 31, Cal 10 Oregon State looks very good with their five receiver set and balances it out with Ken Simonton up the middle. Oregon will try to penetrate the Beavers defense, pounding Reuben Droughns up the middle all game. Tough call. Iām going with the Beavers on the road by seven. Oregon State 28, Oregon 21 Penn State is in a free fall. Losing back to back games has the Nittany Lions out of the BCS picture. Michigan State isnāt fairing much better lately. Since both teams arenāt playing well right now, go with the team thatās at home. Spartans by a field goal. Michigan St. 20, Penn State 17 Why this game is even being played, I donāt know. Tennessee will demolish the Wildcats. No Tim Couch, no victory. Better yet, with Tim Couch, they didnāt even win. Jamal Lewis will rush for over 200 yards and the Vols will cover the spread easily. Tennessee 35, Kentucky 10

This is the game of the year ÷ whoever wins here goes to the national championship to lose to Virginia Tech. Steve Spurrierās offense has been out of sync all year but expect for that to change as he rotates Doug Johnson and Jessie Palmer throughout the game. Florida 35, Florida State 28 I still hate the Cardinal, they could be 10ö0 or 0ö10, it makes no difference to me. They will lose to the Golden Bears. The aerial attack of Todd Husak and Troy Walters is going to get grounded. This wonāt be Stanfordās worst defeat, though ÷ wait until the Rose Bowl. California 24, Stanford 17 Oregon State is the best story in college football this year. What Dennis Erickson has done with these perpetual losers is amazing. This game will be decided by who can score more, and Oregon is having too many problems at quarterback. Beavers win a tight one. Oregon State 55, Oregon 48 Will Penn State loss three in a row? No, this team has too much talent, even though they have seemed to have lost their fire now that they are out of the BCS picture. Joe Pa and the Nittany Lions win on talent. Penn State 28, Michigan St. 17 Kentucky without Tim Couch is like ćVIPä without Pamela Anderson: not as fun to watch. Tennessee is no longer in the championship hunt, but they are still in the BCS bowl picture. Tee Martin has a big day and the Volunteers roll in hillbilly country. Tennessee 42, Kentucky 24
