Album Review: Nu Flavor, It's On!
Reprise Records Unfortunately, the all-too-well coordinated boy band has struck again. This time it's with Nu Flavor, a four-man band, who, in their latest album It's On!, attempt a valiant comeback. Despite this, only one word can be used to sum up their latest recording endeavor: unoriginal. With song titles like "Call Me" and "Sprung" (a ballad which affectionately refers to one of the band members' sexual arousal), it's no wonder why these guys were long forgotten back in 1997 with the release of their self-titled album. Strip away the cliched, sexy-boy facade and cheesy song lyrics, and the actual songs on the album aren't too bad. It consists of the typical pop-quartet harmonization and instrumental accompaniment that bands like 'N SYNC have mastered recently. Although they fall into a stereotypical category, the guys of Nu Flavor have obviously conquered the art of blending voices as one, a quality which makes the album tolerable but not very unique. Basically, all the screaming, pre-adolescent girls out there will probably appreciate It's On! But until the day when hot boy groups stay in style longer than a year, this band is going to have to work to keep its fans from hitting eject. - Maggie Burnett
