Ride the popularity wave that started with Mia and Co. at the World Cup this summer by checking out the women's soccer team as they take on Arizona State tonight at 7 p.m. The game takes place at Murphey Stadium, which is located on 10th and Plumer, next to the intramural sporting fields. Led by two goals from midfielder Tiffany Sabado and striker Chrissy Sanford, UA defeated NAU 4-1 Saturday night in Flagstaff. This will be their second game and their first Pac-10 conference game. Tickets are free with your student ID card. Show up and support the girls at their first home game of the season.

Once again the University of Arizona is hosting an open debate of Tucson Democratic candidates tonight. All of the prospective mayors are rushing to fill the seat vacated by retiring Democratic mayor George Miller. The four candidates are Betsy Bolding, Pat Darcy, Janet Marcus and Molly McKasson. Sponsored by the UA Young Democrats and Pima County Young Democrats, this event gives students the opportunity to both gain a perspective on the race, as well as give you the chance to be involved in local politics. Talk with someone who could be the next mayor of Tucson. The debate starts at 2 p.m. in the Arizona Ballroom of the Memorial Student Union. Call Genevieve Cruise of the UA Young Democrats at 903-0692 or Rhonda Barnes of the Pima County Young Democrats at 331-6164 if you want further information about the debates.

Those beautiful, country-singing divas, the Dixie Chicks release their new album entitled Fly today at CD stores everywhere in Tucson. Already receiving rave reviews, Fly is their follow up to their debut album, Wide Open Spaces. Fly delivers that same twangy, rock-style music that made them famous. The Dixie Chicks are trying to break the barrier between pop and country, and this album is no different. Give it a try, you may just like it.

Look on the UA Mall this afternoon for two events. The first of which is the Campus Crusade sponsored gospel music in front of Old Main from noon to 1 p.m. The second event is being held by students from Campus Acquaintance Rape Educators (CARE). They are handing out various materials to help you in preventing sexual assault on campus. In addition to the booths already stationed on the Mall (like the UA football student ticket sales), CARE will be there from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. If you have any questions for CARE you can call 621-4679 and ask for Lily DeSantiago.
