Gay men's chorus puts a new spin on holiday cheer

Talk about this story

Tucson's Reveille Gay Men's Choir will kick off the winter season tonight with the opening of their holiday concert, "Don We Now Our Gay Apparel."

RGMC will perform the annual show throughout this weekend. The concert will feature traditional holiday music, including the world premier of the song "Gloria." The piece was written specifically for the group by James H. Gall, the Reveille's artistic director since its inception in 1994.

This year's show is comprised of several admirable artists such as soloist Regina Feising, the Heavy Metal Quintet and RGMC's a cappela quintet, Take V. Yet the main attraction of the show is the comedy packed into the concert, with RGMC's humorous contemporary interpretations of both classic holiday season songs and original compositions.

Reveille performs several other concerts throughout the year. On March 11 and 12, the group will be hosting its annual spring show entitled "Lights, Action, it's Broadway." The performance will feature pieces from Miss Saigon, 101 Dalmatians, The Lion King and many more classic numbers.

Finally, Reveille's summer show, "Yes We Know the Way to San Jose" runs June 10 and 11 in the midst of the desert heat.

Tickets are on sale now at Antigone Books, 411 N. Fourth Ave., Desert Pride, 300 E. Sixth St. and Tucson Trunk, 5605 E. River Road. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Anyone wishing to reserve tickets or purchase season tickets should call 617-3100.иии
