Zachary's Pizza gets a new home

Zachary's Pizza has moved to a new location, but business is still booming.

After being at its original location - 1019 E. Sixth St. - for over ten years, Zachary's closed on Dec. 20 and reopened at its new location across the street, 1028 E. Sixth St., on Jan. 5.

Zachary's old building was bought by the University of Arizona four years ago in order to give Environmental and Natural Resources a "sister building," said manager and owner David Ellis.

"We really appreciate that the university has been most helpful in preparing for our new location and spent a lot of money on the renovation," Ellis said.

Although the new building is smaller, customers now have the option of sitting at the bar or the patio, neither of which existed in the old location.

"We want to make the patio really beautiful, with trees and flowers, and I think people will really like it," said Ellis.

Students will come down to Zachary's for pizza and enjoy the patio, he added.

Stacie Wright, a Japanese studies junior who has been working at Zachary's Pizza since August, said they've been very busy and have gotten a positive student reaction.

"The pizza and atmosphere are the same, but the new bar and patio makes it a more interesting place to work," Wright said.

Business sophomore Michelle Rosenberg said the change of location doesn't change her love for the pizza.

"I live in LaPaz (Residence Hall), so it's just a short walk for a really good meal," she said.
