Talk about this story

In Sunday's All-Pro Alumni game, UA head coach Jerry Stitt used all of his players, as the alumni beat the Wildcats 7-6.

Stitt will not have the luxury of playing everyone today, though, as the Wildcats return to Sancet Field to take on Nevada.

The Wolfpack (4-3) are coming off one of the school's most impressive victories, a 4-3 win against top-ranked Stanford on Monday. Senior outfielder Joe Inglett went 3-for-5 with three doubles and an RBI as Nevada defeated the Cardinal for the second time in two seasons.

Surprised?

Don't be, UA head coach Jerry Stitt said.

"In college baseball, there are no shockers," he said. "In basketball and football, you see it all the time. In baseball, one good day of pitching is all you need."

In the upset of Stanford, the Wolfpack got five innings of three-hit baseball from senior right-hander Brian Schultz. Senior Ryan Church finished the game for Nevada, as the team improved its overall record to 4-3.

This weekend's series will be a litmus test for Wildcat pitching, which improved in last weekend's sweep of New Mexico.

"Our pitching has done a good, good job," Stitt said. "We've played really well lately."

The Wildcats will likely start sophomore Ben Diggins (2-0, 2.55 ERA) today. Senior Mike Crawford and sophomore Brian Pemble will pitch Saturday and Sunday, although Stitt is not sure who will pitch when.

"Crawford's been under the weather lately," Stitt said. "We're going to see how he does in practice and (pitching) coach (Bill) Kinneberg will make up his mind then."

Today's game begins at 3 p.m., while tomorrow's and Sunday's contests start at 1.
