PHOENIX (AP) Ä The state Civil Liberties Union is protesting the proclamation of Nov. 20-27 as Bible Week in three Phoenix-area cities, saying it violates the Bill of Rights' separation of church and state.
The mayors of Scottsdale, Tempe and Gilbert bowed to a request from the New York-based Layman's National Bible Association to proclaim Bible Week in their cities.
Most other Valley municipalities turned it down.
