The Arizona men's basketball team was voted fifth in the Associated Press preseason basketball poll released yesterday, and the team who beat them in the Final Four last season was voted first.

The defending national champion Arkansas Razorbacks were the overwhelming favorite in the vote by the national media, garnering 66 first-place votes.

Last year's preseason No. 1 North Carolina received one first place vote and was deemed second in the nation by the writers, followed by Massachusetts, Kentucky, and then Arizona.

Last year Arizona was preseason 18th, finishing ninth in the AP Poll.

Massachusetts plays Arkansas in both teams' season opener Nov. 25.
