A 19-year-old student was arrested and charged with minor in possession of alcohol early Saturday morning at the corner of East Speedway Boulevard and North Mountain Avenue.
Ian A. Larson, of the 1800 block of East Blacklidge Drive, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. and he was taken to Pima County Jail. He was later released.
Police reported noticing four people standing at the corner of East Speedway Boulevard and North Mountain Avenue. Police reported Larson put his bottle on the ground after he noticed police driving nearby.
After driving by a second time, police asked Larson and the other male what the cups contained. Larson denied knowing about the cups, then asked police repeatedly to "make a deal." Police inspected Larson's California driver's license, which revealed he was 19 years old.
The arrestee asked police why they were harassing an upper-class kid who was just drinking and having a good time.
Larson then admitted he was drinking "rum and Coke," but would not give his local address. Police then transported Larson to the Pima County Jail.
