After a week off, the trial of clock tower protester Abel Duffy resumes today.

Duffy, 23, was arrested on charges of criminal trespass after he sat on top of the University of Arizona Student Union clock tower for six days in February this year.

The trial was given a continuance by Pima County Justice Court Judge Emojean Girard on Sept. 19 after an unexpected witness, UA police officer Robert Sommerfeld, showed up to testify. Duffy's attorney, Paul Gattone, requested the continuation because he was unable to interview Sommerfeld before the trial, and he did not have prior access to a Feb. 25 police report filed by Sommerfeld.

The trial will start at 9 a.m. today at the Pima County Justice Court, 115 N. Church Ave.
