The Arizona men's club soccer team will get a little help from its Amigos this season.
Forward Dave Parsons, a former club member, is returning from a stint with the semipro Tucson Amigos.
"He's very experienced," UA coach Ron Fox said. "His knowledge and experience will really help the team."
The Arizona men's club soccer team held tryouts on the McKale Center lawn last weekend to fill out a team roster of virtually all veterans.
After a record of 23-3-1 last season, the 1994 Western Regional champions hope to capitalize on last year's success, returning eight of 11 starters, including midfielder Nick Seward.
About 80 players showed up to display their endurance, speed and dribbling skills in hopes of being chosen for one of two teams.
Team A will travel the collegiate circuit, while the B Team will concentrate on recreational and intramural play.
The Wildcats begin practice this week in preparation for their first game against South Mountain Community College.
"It's just the first game," Fox said, "but we should do well. We know what to expect, and we'll get it together this weekend."
The men's club soccer team opens with South Mountain at Pima Community College, Saturday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m. The team will finish the weekend with Pima Community College on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m.
