The Arizona women's swimming team took first place over the weekend in the Speedo Cup, held in Long Beach, Calif.
The Wildcats took first place with 730 points, ahead of Wisconsin's 549.5 and UCLA's 425.5.
No. 4 Arizona improved to a 6-0 record, the best start in UA history and the best by any Frank Busch-coached team.
Leading the Wildcats was sophomore Laurie Kline, who finished first in the 200-meter freestyle in 1 minute, 48.17 seconds and second in the 500m freestyle in 4:48.19.
Senior All-American Becky Gumpert gave Arizona a boost, finishing second in the 200m individual medley (2:02.43), the 400m individual medley (4:20.60) and the 100m breaststroke (1:02.93).
Shannon Hosack and sophomore Liesl Kolbisen both recorded NCAA qualifying times in the 50m freestyle with times of 23.12 and 23.31, respectively.
Arizona's point total was helped by its first-place finish in the 400m medley relay (3:44.42), 200m freestyle relay (1:33.53), 800m freestyle relay (7:20.93) and the 400m freestyle relay (3:23.01).
