Headliners A compilation of news from campuses around the U.S.

The following story, "The Delts have returned," appeared in the Oct. 24 issue of The Daily Anthenaeum, West Virginia University's student newspaper:

On the afternoon of Oct. 23, in the Mountainlair's Vandalia Lounge, Delta Tau Delta fraternity's colonization process officially began.

After discussions between the group's alumni, the university and the Interfraternity Council, an invitation to return to campus was extended to the fraternity.

The fraternity was asked to leave campus in February 1992 because of hazing and alcohol violations while it was on social probation.

A 71-member pledge class will make up the returning fraternity and will act as the organization's founding fathers.

Journalism sophomore Howard Koontz will act as pledge class president.

"We're trying to get our feet planted and get involved in the university but, at the same time, grow internally, he said.

The Delts' membership process will be overseen by two local alumni advisers, Jerry Steketee and Jay Bucklew III.
