It does not look good for Arizona wide receiver Richard Dice.
Just one day after Dice was thought to have sprained his left knee in practice, the Arizona football coaching staff found out his injury was more severe than first expected.
"Richard has done some damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and we are unsure when we will get him back," Arizona head coach Dick Tomey said. "All we know right now is that he can't play this weekend."
While his status is uncertain, what is for sure is that the Wildcats will be without Dice at least until November. Dice had 21 catches for team highs of 375 yards and five touchdowns.
"Optimistically, we would like to have Richard back by the last couple of games," said Duane Akina, Arizona offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. "But we'll have to wait a couple days before we know anything for sure."
While Dice's loss is going to be a big one for the Wildcats, Akina doesn't foresee any changes in their game plan against UCLA on Saturday in Pasadena, Calif.
"We aren't going to change anything because we don't have Richard," Akina said. "We are confident that our other (receivers) can do the job."
