The Arizona women's soccer team lost to Montana 3-2 yesterday at Pima Community College's Aztec Field in its final home game of the season.

Arizona, in its second season as a Division I program, fell to 6-9 overall, 1-4 in the Pacific 10 Conference, while Montana improved to 12-6. The Wildcats finished their home season with a record of 3-4.

Montana got on the board early when Stacy Forslund scored in the second minute of the game. Arizona's Christine Keeley tied the game in the 25th minute on a cross pass from Kim Veeder, but Forslund struck again, scoring in the 30th minute off an assist from Courtney Mathieson. Keeley's goal was her team-leading 10th of the season.

In the second half, Montana continued to score as Mathieson took a long shot that slipped through Wildcat goalkeeper Jen Weibel's hands in the 58th minute. Arizona cut the lead to 3-2 when Julian Bressler scored off a rebound into the left corner of the net in the 64th minute.

Keeley led Arizona with five shots on goal. Montana outshot Arizona 28-15. Weibel saved 15 of 18 shots on goal.

"I think the thing that hurt us was that we came out flat in the first half," Arizona head coach Lisa Fraser said. "We have two games coming up, against strong teams, and we want to finish our season on a strong note."

Arizona concludes the regular season in Northern California against Cal Friday and Stanford Sunday.
