Memorial service

for Damon Terrell

A memorial service for all friends of the late Damon Terrell will be held at noon tomorrow in McKale Center.

Terrell, a University of Arizona football player, died Thursday at University Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since collapsing after a workout Aug. 10. He was 21.

He was expected to be the Wildcats' starter at tight end this season after a year as a top reserve in 1994. He transferred to Arizona from El Camino Junior College in Torrance, Calif., last fall.

Less than 500 tickets

remain for UA-UW

With only five weeks remaining before the Oct. 21 UA Family Weekend Arizona-Washington football game, the public ticket situation is grim Ÿ for those wanting them, that is.

Less than 500 tickets remain, most of which are singles, said Darlene Castelan, UA athletics ticket manager.

Tickets can be purchased through the McKale Center Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at 621-CATS.

Stewart arraignment

UA football player Derrick Stewart will be arraigned today at 1 p.m. in Courtroom G of Pima County Justice Court. The arraignment, originally scheduled for last Wednesday, was postponed at the request of his lawyer.

Stewart was indicted Aug. 21 on felony charges for his involvement in a May 21 assault during a party for Pacific 10 Conference athletes.

Stewart faces charges of aggravated assault using a deadly weapon and causing serious injury. The two Class 3 felonies carry penalties ranging from five to 15 years, according to the county's legal defender's office.

Death penalty vigil

A non-violent protest against the execution of Jimmie Jeffers will be held today at 5 p.m. on the corner of Euclid Avenue and Speedway Boulevard.

Jeffers is scheduled to be executed tomorrow at 12:01 a.m. at the Florence Prison Complex.

Art Space workshop

Funds for Art Space Development Program will be the topic of a workshop by the Tucson Arts District Partnership Inc. to be held today.

The workshop will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave.
