Senate position open
The Faculty Senate is seeking a student to serve in a student representative position.
The Faculty Senate meets on the first Monday of each month to consider issues that affect faculty, students and employees. The senate sets policy and make recommendations for the benefit of the university.

Sigma Chi wins award
The Beta Phi chapter of Sigma Chi at the UA was presented the Peterson Significant Chapter Award, the Daniel William Cooper Award, and the Peterson Significant Chapter Award at the Fraternity's 48th annual Leadership Training Workshop held Aug. 9-13.
Career fair
UA Alumnus Terry Lundgren (chairman and chief executive officer of Federated Merchandising and Federated Product Development, the New York-based division of Federated Department Stores) will be the keynote speaker for the 1995 Retail Career Fair Symposium, which will be held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Union Gallagher Theater.

Hello opera
The Arizona Opera Co. and the Opera Guild of Southern Arizona present "Say Hello To Opera," tonight at 7 p.m. in the Woods Library, 3455 N. 1st Ave.
The presentation will be a preview of Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi.
Nominations
Nominations for the Student Affairs Council Centennial Achievement Undergraduate Award are being requested by the Office of the Dean of Students. Submit nominations on or before Friday. The awards will be presented at the December Commencement.

New-student meeting
The Native American Resource Center is having a freshman and newly transferred student meeting today at 3 p.m. in Nugent room 203.
The title of the meeting is "On and Off Campus Resources."
