Adia Barnes, a forward from San Diego, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the university next season, women's basketball coach Joan Bonvicini announced yesterday.
Barnes joins Arizona's five other recruits, all of whom are from California and committed during the early signing period last fall.
Barnes, 5-foot-11, averaged 22.1 points per game at Mission Bay High School. She earned first-team all-state honors after guiding her team to the San Diego Section Division II title.
"Adia is an outstanding athlete," Bonvicini said. "She is unique in that she has the ability to go inside or outside. Adia will have the ability to go for big numbers."
Joining Barnes as new additions on the UA's 1994-95 roster will be DeAngela Minter (Vista, Calif.), Michelle Giordano (Ventura, Calif.), Marte Alexander (Los Angeles), Fatima Imara (Hayward, Calif.) and Keisha Johnson (Antioch, Calif.)
