I'm writing in response to Ryan Moore's letter berating the bicycle police for not stopping crime (April 15).

I'm sorry the police officer inconvenienced you by stopping you to give you a warning about not having a headlight. I'm sorry the officer took time out of your busy schedule to tell you that riding without a light may get you killed at night.

Wake up, Ryan! If you ride without a light, you're asking for a car to run you over. A van hit me when I had a headlight _ putting the van at fault (his running the yield sign also put him at fault). Several cars have seen me and stopped becuase I do have a light on my bike. You wouldn't drive at night without turning your headlights on, would you? Take the officer's advice and get a light _ it may just save your life.
