A 19-year-old UA student was arrested Wednesday night and charged with possession of drug paraphenalia.
Kenneth F. Carter, of Navajo Residence Hall, 1557 E. 6th St., was arrested after police came to his room investigating reports of someone throwing oranges from Carter's window at vehicles traveling on East Sixth Street.
When police arrived, they noticed a "strange odor" coming from Carter's room and identified the smell as incense.
Police said Carter was standing by a desk where a brown pipe, commonly used for smoking marijuana, was laying in plain view.
When asked about the pipe, Carter admitted using it to smoke marijuana, police said. He was then placed under
Carter agreed to let police search his room. Officers found a clear plastic bag with residue in it, which Carter admitted was marijuana residue, and a cardboard tube stuffed with fabric softener which Carter said he smoked from to decrease the smell of marijuana. In a desk drawer, police found another pipe.
Carter was cited and released.
