A 33-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon on charges of threatening a UA employee.
Steven E. Denny, of the 2500 block of East Camino Cancion, was arrested at the intersection of Enke Drive and North Warren Avenue after saying he was going to "run over" a UA employee who refused to let him drive past a barricade, police said.
The employee told police she was directing traffic during the UA-UCLA basketball game when she stopped Denny's white Nissan Pathfinder and asked him to turn around at the barricade. Denny told the employee he wanted to drop off his pregnant wife closer to an entrance at McKale Center, but the employee refused to let him past the barricade, police
According to the employee, Denny began yelling obscenities at her, then got out of his vehicle and approached her, saying "If you don't move, I will run you over. I will!" police said. The employee said Denny then got back into his car and drove forward, stopping only a few inches away from the employee, police said.
Two witnesses told police they heard him repeatedly threaten to "run over and kill" the employee, police said.
When questioned, Denny told police he asked the employee to move but "couldn't recall" threatening her, police said.
Denny was cited and released.
