MEN'S TENNIS
The Arizona men's tennis team will host Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo today in the first-ever meeting between the two squads.
The nonconference match is at Robson Tennis Center at 1:30.
The Wildcats, bringing a 5-12 overall record into the dual match with the Mustangs, are coming off a dual-match victory over Oregon Ä the first one in their last 10 tries.
Arizona has had few problems outside of the Pacific 10 Conference South this year Ä all of its dual-match victories have been over nonconference opponents. But the UA is winless in the Pac-10 South.
The Mustangs are riding an eight-game winning streak, having surrendered just three points in those dual matches.
The Mustangs have only one upperclassman, senior Josh Johnston, who has an overall record of 9-7.
The rest of the team is led by freshman Alex Reyes, who leads the team in wins with 13. Sophomore Casey Woods has a record of 10-6.
Arizona will return No. 1 singles player Jan Anderson (23-11 overall), who missed the last dual match because he did not meet his own academic standards.
The Wildcats will return to full form, with the exception of Roland Kupka, whose 7-11 record caused him to be replaced in the lineup by Vuk Tapuskovic.
Chris Jenkins and Eddie Schwartz will be in their normal positions. Schwartz will be back at the five spot, where he has played best. With an overall record of 14-9, four of his victories have come at the No. 5 position. James Rey will resume the No. 6 position.
