An employee of facilities management called police Tuesday afternoon after he heard an explosion near Hopi Lodge Residence Hall.

When police arrived at the location, the fire was out and they found a small metal container on the ground east of the hall. The employee told police he heard an explosion and saw flames shooting out from the can.

Police saw no one at the scene and currently have no suspects.

A 1986 white Buick Regal was stolen Monday between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from the Park Garage, 1140 N. Park Ave.

The owner said he left the car in the lot secured and when he returned it was missing. No glass was found at the scene and police are unsure how access was gained to the car.

Someone punctured three tires on a studentÕs vehicle while it was parked in the Park Garage over the weekend.

Police noticed the 1989 Chevrolet in the garage Sunday morning with three flat tires. They notified the student Monday who told them he parked his vehicle in the garage over the weekend because he thought it would be safe.

No other damage was done to the vehicle and police have no suspects.
