Police arrested a 19-year-old man Tuesday night for obstructing a public thoroughfare with his bicycle.

An officer on bicycle patrol witnessed Sky Jacobs, of the 800 block of North Tenth Avenue, and two friends riding three abreast on North Park Avenue near East Sixth Street holding up traffic on the street. The officer noted the bicyclists were traveling about 10 miles per hour and waving to the seven vehicles stuck behind them.

The officer called for backup and attempted to stop Jacobs and his friends. But when they noticed the police, the riders sped away.

Jacobs was stopped after riding through a parking lot on East University Boulevard. The other two bicyclists were not located.

Jacobs told the officer he and his friends "were just having fun." He was cited and released at the scene.
