Hidden beyond the blazing sun, on acres of desert and mountain landscape, is a vacation getaway where you can experience the wildlife without spending a herd of bucks.

Taking a vacation without going far from home is possible at the Paz Entera Guest Ranch, three miles west of Interstate 10, off Ina Road.

This bed and breakfast is spread out over 340 acres of desert.

Guest rooms are located in casitas, where signs of everyday life are nonexistent. Rooms are not equipped with a clock, radio or television.

Facilities include a pool, hot tub and a main ranch house where guests can relax and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast with their stay.

Room rates vary according to the season, ranch employee Kristi Tayloe said. Current rates will continue through the end of April.

Rates for the season are $85 per night for a single and $95 for a double. Two and three room suites are available and start at $120 per night.

A two-night minimum stay is required on holidays and during special events.

The guest ranch hosts private events and business retreats, so reservations should be made in advance, Tayloe suggests.
