The UA women's basketball team extended its losing streak to four games last night by falling to No. 6 Stanford 100-72 at Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto, Calif.
Arizona (9-13 overall, 4-6 in the Pacific 10 Conference) has only eight games remaining in its regular season schedule, and a postseason NCAA bid is unlikely unless the Wildcats can win at least six of those.
Junior transfer Atina Harris scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds, while junior guard Brenda Pantoja and freshman center Marte Alexander scored 12 points apiece. Besides JiJi Sweet, no other player scored in double figures Ä Fatima Imara, DeAngela Minter and Keisha Johnson went scoreless in 23 minutes of play.
Arizona was able to keep its turnovers to a minimum, committing just three, but was out-rebounded by Stanford 41-32.
For the Cardinal, Katie Starbird scored 22 points and dished out four assists, Anita Kaplan had 16 points, and Rachel Hemmer pitched in 10 points.
Tomorrow night, the UA faces Cal at Harmon Arena in Berkeley, Calif., at 8:30 p.m. local time, before returning home next week to face Southern Cal and UCLA at McKale Center.
