The UA Museum of Art continues its latest offering "Mark Rothko: The Spirit of Myth," a loan exhibition from the National Gallery of Art through Feb. 26. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon-4 p.m. on Sundays. The exhibition includes a series of paintings by Rothko exploring the themes of Greco-Roman myths. The Arizona Repertory Theater continues its presentation of "Mad Forest," a drama about a society in turmoil under a totalitarian regime. Whoopi Goldberg, Mary-Louise Parker and Drew Barrymore star in this drama about the friendship three women form on a cross-country trip. Rated R.
"The Jerky Boys: The Movie."
Johnny Brennan and Kamal, the guys who have made a cult following with their audio tapes of prank phone calls, star in their first motion picture. Rated R.
MTV will be holding auditions for four different Spring Break shows to be filmed at Lake Havasu. Try-outs are from 11 a.m.-noon on the UA Mall. The Screening Room, 127 E. Congress St., concludes their film noir series with Fritz Lang's "The Big Heat" and "Clash by Night," starring Marilyn Monroe. The Texaco-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network will broadcast Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" and "Pagliacci" starting at 11:30 a.m. on KUAT 90.5 FM. Maria Guleghina will sing the role of Santuzza in "Cavalleria" and Daniela Dessi will make her Met broadcast debut as Nedda in "Pagliacci."
The Central Arts Collective Gallery, 188 E. Broadway, presents "Four Artists: Three Disciplines" until Feb. 25 with an opening reception from 7-9 p.m. The show will feature the work of photographer Jill Kelly, printmakers Gloria Isak-Morton and Jack Remington, and sculptor Joan DeMott Sullivan. The Ironwood Gallery at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, 2021 N. The acclaimed Mighty Clouds of Joy vocal quartet will be performing traditional and R&B gospel music at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall. Mighty Clouds of Joy have released more than 25 albums and have performed 200 concerts around the world. The group has won six Grammy Awards, with even more nominations. Get "Cabin Fever" with a performance art and lecture by Ellen Fisher at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph Gross Gallery in the art building. Fisher is well known in both performance art and dance communities throughout the United States and Europe. "Cabin Fever" draws on her experience of spending eight hours each day alone in a cabin, and uses light and shadows in combination with objects and her body. "Movie Queens" by Claudia Allen, begins at 8 p.m. at the Historic 'Y' Theater, 738 N. 5th Ave., Suite 131. "Movie Queens" is the story of two feuding legendary actresses reunited for a Broadway play, only to find that their personal history is the real stuff of great drama.
