The UA baseball team will get a short respite from what has been a tough Pacific 10 Conference Southern Division season thus far when it takes on Grand Canyon University today in Phoenix at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats (14-17-1 overall, 2-7 in the Six-Pac) will try to rebound from a three-game sweep at the hands of Cal. The Bears were a consensus pick to finish in the bottom half of the conference but are 5-1 and in sole possession of first place.

The Antelopes will send Tim Huff (1-5, 5.16 ERA) to the mound tonight. Arizona will counter with Shawn Barrington, who will be making his first start of the season.

Barrington, a left-handed junior transfer from North Idaho Junior College, is 2-1. He was the top middle reliever early in the season Ä he did not allow a hit in his first two appearances Ä but has struggled lately.

The Antelopes are 10-19 overall and 8-7 in Western Athletic Conference East play.
