For the second Sunday in a row, Menno Wickey led off a game with a home run, but it went for naught as 17th-ranked Stanford rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Arizona baseball team 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Sunken Diamond in Palo Alto, Calif.

Left-hander Mike Robbins went the distance for the Cardinal, striking out five and allowing three runs on 11 hits to improve his record to 4-3.

The Wildcats (20-31-1 overall, 6-21 in the Pacific 10 Conference Southern Division) carried a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth, thanks to Wickey and two RBI from Jeff Gjerde. But Stanford rallied for two runs in the inning on A.J. Hinch's sacrifice fly and Steve Carver's run-scoring single.

The Cardinal (27-20, 17-10) tied the game in the seventh on Troy Kent's RBI single and went ahead for good when Jay Pecci scored on an error by Wickey.

Kent went 2-for-3 at the plate, but it was his glove that saved the day. With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, Kent smothered the UA's potential big inning by making a diving catch along the first base line.

The Wildcats will close out their schedule against No. 5 Southern Cal at Sancet Field May 13-15.
