University has misplaced financial priorities

I feel trapped in a nightmare that keeps repeating itself over and over, a kind of undergraduate hell. They're raising tuition again? I read the news story over and over. It's happening again. Even as the Republicans in the House race those in the Senate to cut financial aid, the Regents are raising tuition again. And the final rub of salt in the open wound mislabeled "education" is that President Pay-Check-O is asking for an even larger increase in tuition than the presidents of ASU and NAU.

Did the "60 Minutes" expos‚ teach our administrators nothing? In the aftermath of "60 Minutes" we heard and read of all the wonderful things the UA is doing to improve undergraduate education, does that include raising tuition every year? I wouldn't mind paying a modest increase if I saw something for my money but the Student Union still leaks, lower division classes are too big, I'm a senior and I still can't get all the classes I need next year, I'm afraid to walk by Gould-Simpson for fear of being impaled by a pain of glass, need I go on?

And as administration whines about budget cuts (which I admit are real and do hurt the university) they somehow have managed to find money for those damn telescopes for the past decade and tuition goes up and the Student Union still leaks and our ex-president Koffler is still pulling a hefy salary, and the library budget is cut. I feel trapped in a nightmare that keeps repeating itself over and over, a kind of undergraduate hell. They're raising tuition again?
