Students can avoid traveling all the way to a shopping mall to enjoy a variety of food simply by walking to Park Center.
The food service director, Karen Steinhardt, said the Park Center will be renovating the entire upstairs level to a food court, similar to but not as big as the ones in the shopping malls.
Steinhardt said students will have the choice of a variety of food. The new food court will include a touch of the southwest with a Mexican-style restaurant, and a Chinese restaurant.
Chick-Fil-A restaurant will continue their service as part of the new food court, and Sausage Deli will join the restaurants upstairs.
"The Park Center is going to be a pick-up-and-go kind of place, to make it more convenient for the students," said Steinhardt.
Steinhardt said Sausage Deli downstairs is slated to be converted into a pastry and espresso bar by fall.
Steinhardt said the food court will be express-oriented, which will help to serve students and customers more easily and efficiently.
The construction of the new food court begins June 12 and and should be finished by August 11, Steinhardt said.
Sausage Deli employee Aaron Munn called the renovation "a positive move."
Munn said business should not be affected by the move upstairs. "Sausage Deli customers are pretty loyal," he said.
Sausage Deli will remain open downstairs all summer from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the upstairs will be closed all summer for the new renovations.
