Wooing with wallet in hand
Gas, $3 per gallon; movies, $9 per person; dinner, $50 for two. While guys and gals often split the bill in this modern age, men often choose to bear the brunt of the burden while wooing the women of their dreams. RedBlue asked a few UA Romeos about the high costs of dating - not just the money but time as well. They rated how dating consumes their lives on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being highest and 1 being lowest.

"I prefer to pay," said Armando Grijalva, a psychology sophomore. "I think it is a culture thing. If the guy is the one who asks the girl out, like it would be the thing for him to pay, but I mean I don't think it is wrong that a woman would pay for a date. With my cultural background, I would not feel comfortable with her paying. I would pay. I would feel uncomfortable, I mean on the first date."

"I think that it's sometimes easier if you look outside of the box for cheaper dates," said Mike Matthewson, a linguistics senior. "The Sonoran Desert Museum is like $5 in the summer. The park is always good. There's always something to do -- I mean buy a Frisbee, walk around. If you have a dog, take your dog."

"It costs a lot, but that's not the girl's or guy's fault," said Trevor Lightfoot, a pre-communication freshman. "You want to have fun and take your girl out on dates, and that's what it costs. Sometimes you have to save up a little bit, not spend very much on a paycheck. If you find the right girl than all the money you spend will be more than worth it."
