With a good mix of teamwork and defense, the Arizona women's lacrosse team pulled out three victories over the weekend.

The Wildcats (6-0) traveled to Los Angeles and defeated Claremont, UC-Santa Barbara and Occidental.

But it was the 11-8 victory over UCSB on Saturday that meant the most.

"It was an incredible game because we really played as a team," junior goaltender Hope Wisneski said.

The Guachos opened up a 4-1 lead on UA before the Wildcats went on a spurt of their own, and the two teams went into halftime tied at 5.

The two teams traded goals until late in the contest when Arizona put the game away.

It was the second win of the afternoon for UA, who had defeated Claremont 10-7 earlier in the day.

On Sunday, the Wildcats simply dominated outmanned Occidental. Playing on a shortened field, the UA defense took control of the contest early with a stiff midfield defense. The result was a big 20-5 victory for the UA.

"It was just that our offense was a lot stronger and our defense just shut them down," Wisneski said.
