A UA employee called police Monday to report a bullet hole in the Art building, 1031 N. Olive Ave.

Between 6 p.m. April 4 and 8 a.m. Friday, someone fired a single shot which left a 1 1/4-inch bullet hole in the outer building wall. The bullet penetrated the wall, shattered a picture frame, and damaged the plaster on the opposite inner wall.

The damaged outer wall has a direct line of sight to Jack-in-the-Box restaurant, 934 E. Speedway Blvd., where Tucson police received reports of gunshots early Friday morning. University officers assume the two cases are related.

The value of the damage was unknown.

Three Tucson Fire Department engines and several university police officers responded to Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., Tuesday night after a resident assistant reportedly saw clouds of smoke in an eigth-floor hallway and pulled a fire alarm at 8:45 p.m..

Firefighters arrived and found the residents of Room 815 had left a bag of popcorn in the microwave too long, a TFD firefighter said.

"The bag actually burned and created a lot of smoke," TFD Cpt. Tom Elam said. "It did really freak everyone out."

Firefighters left the scene at 9 p.m., however, residents of the hall were not able to go back inside until 9:30 p.m.

A student's car was stolen between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday from Lot 4053 at the corner of East Speedway Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue.

The student told police she parked and locked her 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra and later returned to find it missing.

University police broadcast an attempt-to-locate bulletin, but the $3,400 car has not yet been found.

University police were called to Kappa Alpha fraternity, 901 N. First Ave., after two residents reported items stolen from their room.

Between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, someone removed a JVC stereo compact disc player, Sony 13-inch color television, and a Panasonic VCR from their room, police reports stated.

The two said they typically lock their door, but other house members often play video games in the room while the residents are not at home.

The stolen items are valued at $1,600.

Someone stole multiple audio components from a student's car parked in Second Street Garage, 1340 E. Second St.

The student told police she parked her 1985 Ford Tempo at 10 a.m. April 3 and returned at 11 a.m. April 4 to find her passenger side window broken and a Sony portable compact disc player, 40 CDs, a textbook, and a radio transmitter missing.

The stolen items are valued at $494.

A female resident of Apache-Santa Cruz Hall, 1420 E. Fifth St., called police to report a theft after she read in the Arizona Daily Wildcat that part of her property had been found by university police.

Between midnight Friday and noon Monday, someone took a picture frame containing an identification card and glossy picture of "Allison Henry" from the victim's hall room.

Officers found the identification card on the floor of another Apache-Santa Cruz room while investigating a trespassing call Monday.

The student later claimed the card at University of Arizona Police Department headquarters.
