Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrested two women on burglary charges Saturday after campers on Mount Graham saw them removing a computer and other equipment from the UA Observatory at milepost 20 on Mount Bigelow Road.

Deputies arrived at 2:54 p.m. and confirmed that three buildings at the University of Arizona complex had been burglarized.

They arrested Kapp V. Polston, 18, of the 4400 block of East Osage Road, and Kristian L. Stockton, 25, of an unknown address, after finding a university-tagged computer in the back of their 1968 Ford truck.

University police responded soon after and transported the women to Pima County Jail, where they were each booked on three counts of burglary, theft and aggravated criminal damage.

A Steward Observatory employee was also dispatched to the Mount Graham complex to recover the stolen computer and other household goods valued at $500.

Three separate incidents of telephone harassment were reported to university police Sunday and Monday.

University police arrested a resident of Babcock Inn, 1717 E. Speedway Blvd., on DUI charges Saturday after she ran a red light driving southbound at East Speedway Boulevard and North Cherry Avenue.

Officers pulled over the 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Heather E. Frankel, 18, at 11:24 p.m. and noted a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Frankel failed field sobriety tests, but Intoxilyzer screenings showed no alcohol in her blood. Police took urine samples for later cannabis content tests.

She was cited for driving under the influence pending the completion of the drug tests.

A resident of Cochise Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive, called police Monday to report the theft of his $5,600 laptop computer.

Between 11 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday, someone took a Toshiba 400-series laptop computer, a CD-ROM game and a pair of Ray-Ban Sunglasses from his room.

Officers noted no signs of forced entry and two other computers in the room remained untouched.

The total value of stolen items is $5,720.
